Volunteer opportunities

Volunteers are the backbone of the Martin Resource Center. In 2004, over 64 volunteers were recognized for their help providing services to the Martin community and Allegan County. If the volunteers were not a part of this agency, far fewer people would benefit from services.

What do volunteers do at the Martin Resource Center? The opportunities are numerous. The first Tuesday of the month is our open distribution, and volunteers are needed to monitor the food bank, complete intakes, monitor the clothing bank and help stock resources. At other times of the month, volunteers answer the phone, provide office support, clean the buildings, paint, enter information into the computers, design flyers, greet clients or mentor. These opportunities mentioned are not inclusive. As client needs arise, volunteer opportunities change.

How can I volunteer? If you are interested in volunteering at the Resource Center, please contact director, Marcia Beare, for information. Each volunteer is given a tour and brief interview. At that time, talents and desires can be assessed, and the volunteer can be matched with the opportunity that best matches needs and abilities. Those required to fulfill community service hours can also complete their requirement at the Martin Resource Center. Anyone volunteering, because of community service, can be assured that you will be treated like all other volunteers. Community service status will be kept confidential.
